When I walked out the front door I saw Ella sitting on the front steps. "The ball is tonight," Ella said with her back to me. "I wish I could be there. I bet everyone will be dressed beautifuly and I'll bet that they dance elegantly. I would love to dance with the prince.""I'm sure it's not all that great," I said, walking toward her. I walked down the steps and stood in front of her. "It's just a dance where the prince is being forced to choose a wife.""You want to go too don't you?" She looked up at me and I shifted my feet. It was a warm night and the sky was over flowing with stars. I enjoyed seeing the stars from Father's house. The trees of the enchanted forest covered the night sky. "I don't see why I would," I turned to look behind me. "It's getting late and I must be off.""What do you mean? I thought tonight was your night to stay here." "Well I've got to be at Mother's tonight. I'll see you tomorrow.""Oh fiddlesticks. I was hoping to go frog searching tonight.""What would you want with a frog?" I said, puzzled. "I was hoping you could cast a spell on it to turn it into a handsome prince.""Well I'd love to but turning creatures into royalty is not my one of my strong points." "Darn." She giggled. "I suppose I'll just have to continue wishing for a prince." "I'm sure they're not all they're cracked up to be, but if you must then I leave you to your wishing."She sighed. "Okay."I waved my hand in the air and said the transportation spell and with a cloud of smoke I was off. "There you are!" Morgana said when I arrived in front of her at the clearing in the woods we had met at yesterday. "Where have you been?""I've been trying to explain to Father and Ella why I needed to stay at Mother's tonight. It's not easy you know and I certainly don't like having to lie to them." "Well I'm sorry. I'm just a bit nervous. The ball will be starting soon." "Well then I must begin the invisibility spell." I lifted my hands and began to recite the spell. When I had finished Morgana was gone. "Morgana where are you?""Oh wouldn't you like to know," she said, in a sly voice. "Very funny.""Excuse me dear," I heard a voice say."Um. Morgana? Was that you?""Did it sound like me?" Morgana said with an attitude."Dear it's me."I turned around. "Oh Princess Erogarden. You're back.""Of course I am," the small faerie said. "You need a dress and this one is my gift to you." She waved her wand and I turned around and I was dressed in an elegant yellow dress with blue sleeves and red ruffles. My blond hair was pulled back with a red ribon and my cheeks were pink and my lips were painted red. "Oh this is too much," I said. "And don't you think I could have magically changed my clothes. I do it all the time.""Well," Erogarden said with a voice of disdain. "If you don't like my gift…""No I do. I do like your gift. It's beautiful. Thank you. I'll wear it.""Good!" She began to fly away. "I must be off to help other young girls achieve their dream of going to the ball." "She does think she's a fairy godmother," I said to Morgana where ever she was at."Well don't worry about her your highness; we've got a ball to crash."And with a wave of my hand we were off to the palace.
Chapter Two
The First Dance
Before I continue with our story at the ball I'd like to explain more about my home life. You see my Mother and Father met each other a year before they had me. They were in love and were best friends. My mother was a young witch at the time being only 17 and my father, a slightly older but still young worlock was at the age of 20. My father was a strong and powerful worlock who spent most of his time working for King Arthur. Well over the years my parents grew apart and became bored with each other. They faught, using their powers against each other. Once Mother turned Father into a mouse and she tried sending the cat after him, but Father was too quick for that cat. Anyway, about two years ago they seperated from each other and Lucinda and I moved with Mother. I decided that since my parents both wanted to see me so much that I would live in both houses. Lucinda decided to live only with Mother. After a while Father remaired and Hilda and Ella moved in. Father decided to marry a human. Mother said it was because Father wanted to be able to have all the power in the family and that he couldn't stand that Mother was just as powerful as he was. Now back the story. When we arrived outside of the palace Morgana was sitting on my shoulder and was still invisible. I was very nervous and I knew that I had to be extremely careful not to do any kind of my magic. I walked into the ballroom and stopped in awe. It was the most beautiful place I had ever seen. Gold pillars with intricate patterns lined the room and even the floor had gold woven into it. "How beautiful," I whispered.Men and women in elegent tuxedos and gorgeous gowns flooded the room. The dance floor was full of people dancing and smiling. Towards the front of the room were the thrones where the king and queen were sitting and beside them sat the prince. He stared out across the crowd looking unamused. His elbow rested on the arm of his throne and he held his head up with his hand. The poor guy, I thought."I'm off," I heard Morgana whisper and I felt her jump from my shoulder."Where are you going?" I said."Pardon me miss?" A man said, turning around. "What did you say?" "Oh nothing," I said, lifting the bottom of my gown off of the floor so that I could walk down the steps easier. When I began walking down the steps I saw the prince look up. Is he looking at me, I thought. Of course not. I shook the idea away. Well, I thought. Morgana has left me and now I don't know what to do here. I want to leave, but I can't leave with out her.I looked down at my shoes. These things are gonna kill my feet after awhile."Excuse me Ma'am."I looked up and saw the prince standing in front of me. I jumped. "Oh.""I'm sorry. Did I startle you?""Oh no your highness," I said, bowing. "I'm sorry.""It's quite all right." He took my hand. "Would you like to dance?" "Yes your highness," I said, curtsieing. He led me out to the dance floor and I could see that all eyes were on us. Oh dear, I thought. Everyone's noticing me. I felt like they could see right through me. She's a witch. She doesn't belong here. "Are you all right?" The prince asked."Oh. Yes thank you. I'm just a little nervous," I admitted. "Well don't be." He leaned his lips towards my ear. "I promise I don't bite," he whispered. I giggled. "Well that makes me feel better.""Good," he said with a sweet smile. "Well I don't believe I've properly introduced myself." He stopped and took a bow holding out his hand. "My name is Prince Thesarius Balfusar Winsor the second and you may call me Thesarius."I curtsied. "Nice to make your aquantence Prince Thesarius."He took my hand and we began to dance again. "Please just call me Thesarius.""Thesarius," I said, correcting myself."That's better," he said, smiling. Now what is your name?""Oh." I stopped. What should I say, I thought. Well I suppose giving him my real first name wouldn't hurt anything. "My name is Snow.""A beautiful name for a beautiful woman.""You're very sweet.""You know. The night has been quite boring for me.""But it just started.""I know and it's all ready boring."I smile. "Well I'm sorry you are so bored.""Well I'm not anymore. I noticed you right away when you came down those steps. You are the most beautiful human being I've ever seen."I frowned, thinking but I'm not human. He seems very sweet but he wouldn't think I were so beautiful if he knew I were a witch.
